How HeyLesson handles your data

HeyLesson and the Heyley Companion Chrome extension are operated by the developer identified on their public marketplace listings. Contact: support@heylesson.ai.

• Account and organization information used to sign you in and provide the service.
• Learner and lesson information that you choose to enter.
• Audio from a selected lesson when you deliberately start a Companion capture, together with capture timing and status information.
• Transcripts, lesson observations, and preparation materials created from the content you provide.
• Connection tokens and limited import metadata for integrations you choose to connect, including Canva.
• Basic request, device, error, and security information needed to operate and protect the service.

We use data to authenticate users, provide requested captures and uploads, transcribe lesson audio, generate and export lesson materials, operate connected integrations, recover incomplete work, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and respond to support requests.

When you choose Open in Canva, HeyLesson sends the selected lesson pack to Canva to create a new design and uses limited design metadata to return you to that design. HeyLesson does not read the contents of your existing Canva designs.

We share data only with service providers that perform hosting, authentication, database, private storage, transcription, content generation, monitoring, or user-requested integration functions for HeyLesson. They receive only the data needed to perform those functions. We may also disclose data when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users and the service.

We do not sell personal data or use it for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.

Companion capture begins only after the tutor selects an eligible learner, confirms consent and the supported lesson setting, reviews the disclosure, and accepts Chrome's tab-sharing prompt. The tutor can stop capture at any time. Companion captures audio from the selected tab; it does not request the tutor microphone or read Google Meet captions.

Audio fragments are deleted after successful transcription. Failed or abandoned fragments expire within 24 hours. Raw lesson sources and transcripts are retained for 30 days. Account information and generated lesson materials are retained while needed to provide the service or until the associated data is deleted.

Canva connection data is retained while the integration remains connected. Disconnecting Canva revokes the connection and removes stored authorization tokens. Designs already created in Canva remain in the user's Canva account.

You can stop a capture, discard an incomplete capture, delete a learner and associated lesson data, revoke a Companion installation, or disconnect Canva from HeyLesson settings. You may request access, correction, or further deletion through our support page.

Limited records may be retained when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or resolving disputes.

We use safeguards appropriate to the data we process, including encrypted network connections, encryption for sensitive stored credentials, access controls, tenant isolation, and limited access to production systems. No method of storage or transmission can guarantee absolute security.

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use this data only to provide or improve the disclosed Companion functionality, maintain security, comply with law, or provide user-authorized support. We do not permit people to read personal or sensitive user data except with the user's permission for support, when required for security or legal compliance, or when data has been aggregated and de-identified for internal operations.

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the date above and provide appropriate notice before material changes take effect. Questions and privacy requests can be sent through our support page.
